‘I am not John Dale the blind man, I am simply John Dale’
This is the story of John Dale, MBE who for sixty-one years has been blind. It’s an extraordinary story of a boy – and then the man – living life to the full despite being unable to see.
John’s childhood makes fascinating reading starting with tales of his escapades with his mates during the 60’s in North Wales. After a brief, forded diversion to Henshaw’s School for the blind, John would go on to use his determination, ingenuity and personality to find employment. With the unwavering support of his wife Pauline, and friendships he has forged since youth. John Dale would go on to create a thriving manufacturing business which at its height employed approximately 100 people.
Awarded an MBE in 1997 for ‘Services To Industry in Wales’, John Dale’s autobiography is full of social and industrial history, but the overarching message is the importance of friendships and loyalty. A shining example from a remarkable man who has touched the lives of many.
